January 2014 Birchbox

January 2014 Birchbox Review!

My Birchbox shipped super fast this month! I got the confirmation a couple days ago and I got the mail to see I had it today! I had no idea what to expect since I was still getting over the disapointment that was last months Birchbox (which, I promise I'll review eventually).

So, incase you are wondering what a Birchbox is.. It's a monthly subscription service that sends you samples of the latest beauty products. You can also earn points to use in the Birchbox shop. I also can earn points by referring others, so if you are interested please use my link right here.

ooooh, look at that box! Now lets see whats inside...

This Months theme is "Go Time"

Oooh look! I could win something! #probablywont

So, first look at this box, and I'm pretty pumped! Everything is something I will totally use! I'm most excited to try out the nail polish kit, of course.

I actually already own this perfume! It's pretty amazing smelling! So, I'm kinda happy I got an extra little sample of this :)

Mineral Eyeshadow! I tried to get the color of it in the picture, but when I do a swatch, I'll show you guys. It's a nice grey color which is cool because I wear a lot of darker eyeshadows. I look forward to trying this!

This is a really cool nail polish texture kit! I loved the color of glitter I got! I am worried about clean up and removal of the product, so if anyone has good tips, let me know!

I have super thick hair, so any kind of detangler is always welcome!

The lifestyle product was Burts Bee's Lotion!  I love Burts Bees products I'm excited to use this!

All in all, this was a great Birchbox, and is going to keep me with the subscription for one more month! I hope I keep getting great boxes like this in the future!

Perfect Mind, Perfect Body.

This semester I'm going to be devoted to becoming the person I want to be. I want amazing grades, which I have been improving on considering my last two very rough semesters. I want to get admitted into The College of Nursing. I think I can do that, It's just going to take myself giving up my summer to go and catch up on some pre-reqs I must take.

I also want to learn something new. I'm not totally sure what yet. I'm very open to suggestions when it comes to this. I also want to be able to perfect a skill in something. I want to be that person that everyone texts because they need help with something and think I may know a solution. Wouldn't that be awesome?

I also really, really, really need to get back into shape. The rec center on campus had pipe issues over winter break, so it was closed. I didn't totally feel like paying for a gym membership that I could of had for free... So I just didn't go. I've never been one to really constantly go to the gym. But, I really want to change that. Starting the first day of the semester, I'm going to add the gym into my schedule and treat it like I'm going there for one of my classes. Even if the only thing I can fit in is a quick 30 minute elliptical session, I'm going to do it. I'm also going to try to go to one of their classes they offer once or twice a week. It's free, and I should take advantage of going to them!

I'm going to write my daily schedule on here so I can actually follow it because I think if I make it public, I'll actually go and do it. You also get to see all the exciting classes I'm taking this semester...

I will work with whatever my work schedule is when it comes to the gym and homework.

Sunday

This is my day off from the gym, or it will become a make up day for if I missed a day this week due to me being lazy.

So, I think I can make this work. I'll let you know how the first day goes when it happens. In addition, I am trying to make healthier food choices. I've been cooking at home recently which I believe really helps out when it comes to this. I'm not looking to lose a bunch of weight, or anything. I just want my body in shape and a healthier me!

A Katatsic Weekend.

Hey!

So, this past weekend + Monday and today, has been wonderful! I'm still on break from school til next Monday so obviously that has contributed to me being very happy.

On Friday, I got to go shopping (which I probably shouldn't have but...) with my good friend Kyle that I worked at Cedar Point with and my boyfriend Jake. I ended up getting a new bra from the Victoria Secret Semi Annual Sale ( Best sale ever, right?) and a new Yankee Candle from their sale as well. I was also kind of recruited to pursue a job at Yankee Candle as well, so I'm really hoping that goes through because I shop there like no other and I could really use that associate discount!!

Theres the yummy candle I got!!! After we went shopping, we went to a local coffee shop and drank some delicious herbal tea called Blue Eyes! I also bought some loose leaf tea which I just tried last night and it was very good!

Saturday was the date for my Cedar Point 2012 Crew reunion! So I got to see one of my best friends Chris and of course another bestie, Rachael! The three of us, plus the boyfriend all went up to Sandusky to meet up with our team leader from that summer to surprise him and then we went out to dinner! It was really great getting to hang out with these people since everyone lives so far away now. After dinner, Chris, Jake and I headed back to Akron and met up with my roommate to indulge in another habit I have besides Candles and Tea, Hookah! I haven't been forever so it was so nice to be able to go out and relax and smoke some hookah. Of course, Jake, Chris and I stayed up talking after the hookah bar which was entertaining as usual.

On Sunday, Jake and I went ice skating at an outdoor rink in my city. We had a lot of fun even though it started raining after we got a snack. However, we still went back out on the ice to skate around for a bit til both of us just could not handle the freezing temperatures anymore.

Jake and me on the ice!

Me trying to look fancy while ice skating.

Lock 3 fire pit thing that I thought looked pretty cool.

Yesterday, AKA Monday was pretty cool as well. I did my usual things like cuddle with my kittens and binge watch Netflix. Nothing new, however my best friend from childhood was finally back from studying abroad in Paris, France! However, I had to work from 3pm-10pmish. What a bummer right? So I ventured out in the negative temperatures to a car that had frozen doors that I obviously couldn't open my self and had to get Jake to do it for me. Then, I headed to a quick Target run before work like usual and bought some Lipsmackers ( I know, I'm really doing this adult thing quite well, right?) then headed over to work. Like usual whenever I'm there, it wasn't very busy. So I sat there, and worked til we got amazing news that because of the weather and lack of guests... WE WERE CLOSING EARLY!!!! That meant I got to see Cerise at a reasonable hour! We reunited like we had never been separated and spent the night hanging out with my roommate, throwing boiling water in the cold air to see it freeze, and of course made a lot food to eat. The usual!

The next morning, Jake attempted to teach us how to play his Playstation 4 games. We kind of failed miserably at every single one, but thats pretty much what happens every time we try to play a game that isn't Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for Playstation 2.... lol.

My other exciting news of the day is that my Birchbox shipped today! I kind of neglected my Birchbox (and Ipsybag post, whoops!) last month because I kind of sorta hated my Birchbox with a passion! It was just so boring! It felt like I got the least wanted items all in one box and I found nothing that I would have wanted to buy again. My Ipsy bag however was totally amazing and I loved it. I'll still probably review that one because it was so great and now I kind of need everyone to get one too! Speaking of monthly boxes...

Today, Rachael made a blog post about a Valentines Day Box Swap, which I absolutely love putting together care boxes and gifts and of course, receiving them! Naturally, I signed up even though I'm pretty sure Rach is the only person who reads my blog... Hopefully, I'll make some new friends by doing this!

Come join, cuz I think it'll be a lot of fun! :)

Happy 2014!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack.

Hi! So, I kind of took an unintended break for like a month simply because, I honestly didn't spend much time on my laptop over break.

So, It's 2014 now. Obviously I have some New Years resolutions, which are:

Get Fit.

Yeah, like everyone else, but it will happen.

Eat Healthier.

I look at my diet and realize, it isn't very healthy to have Taco Bell or Bdubs multiple times a week. I also have that habit to just eat because I'm bored and I really want to lessen that. I don't want to cut out everything fun because I get cranky when I don't eat when I want, but I'm going to try to add healthier habits and transition out the not so healthy ones.

Read and Write More.

I've been toying with the idea of writing a sci-fi novel for quite some time, and I'd like to actually open Word and write some of my ideas down! I'd also like to read more, because I lacked a lot of that this year.

Perform on Stage.

I'm a dance minor for a reason. There is no real reason I psyche my self out when it comes to auditioning for anything. I want to perform SOMETIME this year.

Travel More.

I need to travel. I'm 20 years old, and I want to see more of this country and other countries as well. So far, my next "big" trip will be seeing my Grandmother in Los Angeles, which I'm going to make an effort to go around and see the city this time around instead of watching Game Show Network while she sleeps.

Which brings me to my 2014 travel wishlist...

Chicago

I've been wanting go for like, ever. I've only been to the airport which doesn't totally count as anything except for being frustrated because of how O'Hare always has delays.

Philadelphia

I literally have no reason not to go to Philly, seeing as how two of my best friends live there. So this WILL happen.

New York City

This is a goal to go next winter and see the NYC Ballet perform the Nutcracker. I also really would like to go when it's warm but the Nutcracker goal is NUMBER ONE.

The Bahamas

I have no real idea as to what part of the Bahamas I would like to go to, but I plan on going as part of a cruise so I guess whatever locations work best with the dates. But there is a pretty picture of something called Blue Lagoon Island.

A Gorgeous Beach in Mexico

This may or may not be part of a cruise, but if not on a cruise, I want to use one of those all inclusive Groupons and go to one of those picturesque resorts in Mexico and just relax, tan and drink all day long.

Now, I know this is a wishlist but the above places, I think I could make happen. I obviously want to go to places like Italy and France too, but I know I'm way too poor to actually make that happen this year. But 2015? I'm hoping! I'd also like to go out to Vegas sometime this summer and celebrate turning 21 out there, go back to the Grand Canyon and climb a mountain in Colorado. So we'll see! :)

For a dear friend.

Hello!

So, I had planned on this post being all about me going and seeing the Mythbusters, and the crazy world of retail I worked this weekend. But, it's not.

Last week, my friend David messaged me on Facebook about how we go to the same school, yet we haven't seen each other in a long time! I agreed with him, and we proceeded to make future plans for next semester and hopefully over winter break.

During the week, Dave had some dental issues. Wisdom teeth. Something most of us have had to deal with. He went ahead and got his removed like anyone would. I'm sure anyone can recognize this pain.

On Friday, I logged on and saw a troubling post that he was in our local hospital. I was in absolute shock since barely 12 hours before we were having a conversation and it seemed like nothing was wrong. My first assumption was that maybe he had a bad reaction to an antibiotic he was put on, or maybe a horrible side effect to the surgery. I asked what was going on.

I found out my answer later on that day. He had blood clots in his lungs and legs. Yesterday, he was diagnosed with Pleurisy ( A very painful inflammation of membrane around your lungs) . I feel so bad for him. From what I've heard so far, they haven't been able to figure out what caused everything. Like everyone, Dave needs his lungs to be working. However, Dave is also a trumpet player, and a damn good one. You could hear him playing and think that he was already out of school and professional. So you can see how having something wrong with your lungs when you play an instrument could be so devastating.

What I'm asking of everyone is to send their best wishes and prayers that he gets better soon. I'd also like a list of ideas to put a little kit together for him since he'll be in the hospital for a little bit longer.

If you are feeling really generous and have a couple dollars to spare this winter, my friend Karen started a little charity to help with the cost of his medical bills. We're aiming for 500 dollars to begin with.

David was one of the first people that outreached and met me before I worked at Cedar Point since we lived in the same town. He remained one of the first people I met there and one of the first friends I made there. He is a great person who doesn't deserve any of what is happening to him. I really just would love everyone to keep him in your thoughts.
